Here is a list of questions we get asked almost every day, and in order to make sure you get answers to all your questions, we’ve created this list, but if you have any other information you need on selecting an artist, getting booked for service or need anything else, please call us today!
Yes! We are open 7 days a week and walk-ins are welcome. However, appointments are recommended if you want to get tattooed on a certain date.
Please take a look through the portfolios and pick an artist, then fill out our online consultation request form. Once we have the information we need (brief description of ideal design, placement, size, color or black / grey, and preferred artist) we will connect you to the artist. Once you are both in agreement on price and potential design, we will be able to get your deposit taken care of and book your appointment(s). If your design requires a consultation, we will help schedule that also. All consultations, whether in person or virtual, are free.
We take deposits for every appointment set. They are non-refundable and used to solidify the appointment when you set it. The deposit amount will be applied to the final price of the tattoo at your final session. You must call the shop and speak to someone within 48 hours of your appointment to reschedule if needed. If you fail to show up for your appointment or call to reschedule within 48 hours, your deposit will be forfeited.
Yes! Our piercers usually work Thursdays through Sundays. We offer many different kinds of piercings and have an array of jewelry options. You can make a piercing appointment or just come by for a walk-in. We do not pierce anyone under 5 years old. All minors must have their birth certificate and the parent or guardian’s valid ID. The parent must be listed on the birth certificate and must also accompany the minor while the piercing is being performed. We do not do tongue piercings. Before you come in for a piercing, please be sure to eat a good meal. For more details, please call the shop.
Space Monkey can work with people all over the world. We can communicate through email and have a virtual or phone consultation to discuss your design. We can schedule your appointment and take your deposit over the phone. Long distance? No problem!
Pricing depends on the design, size, placement, and detail. The best way for us to give you an accurate quote is to send us your idea along with reference photos and the placement on your body. Once we have those details, we can give you a better price estimate. Our artists' rates range from around $150-250 per hour.
Yes we can! For cover ups, we will need a clear photo of your existing tattoo, along with your ideas for the new design. We will most likely want to have an in-person consultation to discuss what will and will not work for your cover up tattoo before making the tattoo appointment.
Absolutely! Each of our talented artists specializes in a certain style, so we want to ensure we pair you with the perfect artist for the style you’re looking for. If you’re not sure which artist is right for you, the best thing you can do is send us your idea or reference images and we will get back to you with our artist suggestion.
We only accept government issued picture IDs such as drivers licenses, passports, military IDs and state issued IDs. If you do not have a drivers license you are able to go to your local DMV and apply for a state issued ID for a small fee. We do not accept birth certificates or school IDs.
Absolutely! Please send us a photo of the tattoo you’d like touched up, along with the name of the artist who originally did it (if it was done at Space Monkey). We’ll review it and get back to you with next steps.

Your artist will have your design ready for you at your appointment, and we can make adjustments together if needed. If you have changes to the original idea or placement, please let us know ahead of time — we’re always happy to communicate and collaborate.
We do not tattoo anyone under 18, no exceptions.
No. Getting tattooed while pregnant or breast-feeding has the possibility of complications to your health and the health of your baby.
Yes, definitely. It is highly recommended to eat within 1-2 hours of being tattooed. Having stable blood sugar bolsters your immune system and helps the body deal with the fluctuation of endorphins, which are emitted during the tattoo process.
Bring water and snacks to stay comfortable, and you’re welcome to bring a small blanket, pillow, headphones, or something to keep yourself occupied during longer sessions.
If taken care of properly, the healing process takes around 2-4 weeks. Please refer to our aftercare instructions.
